| (2) Strontium nitrate is a kind of colorless or whiteshafting crystal with a relative density of 2.986 and a meltingpoint of 570o. It is easy to dissolve in water and liquid ammonia,and can slightly dissolve in absolute ethyl alcohol and acetone.When heated, it will decompose and give off oxygen. When furtherheated, the strontium nitrite produced will give off nitric oxideand nitrogen dioxide and at last turn into strontia. When touching,rubbing and colliding with organic substances or meeting the fire,it will burn, explode and emit crimson flames. And it is poisonous.It is mainly used for producing the red luminophor and optic glassof the TV image tube. | （3）Strontium chloride hexahydrate is a kind of colorlessrod-like crystal with a relative density of1.93. It is easy todissolve in water, slightly dissolves in absolute ethyl alcohol andacetone, and does not dissolve in liquid ammonia. When thetemperature reaches 61.4o, it will lose 4 pieces of crystal waterand turn into SrCl2?2H20. When the temperature reaches 100o, itwill lose 5 pieces of crystal water and turn into SrCl2?H20. Whenthe temperature reaches 200o, it will lose 6 pieces of crystalwater and turn into absolute strontium nitrate which is the rawmaterials used for producing Strontium Salts and dyestuff. It canbe used for making fireworks, the fluxing agent of electrolyticmetal natrium as well as the catalyser of organic chemicalcompounding. |
